Use when targeting The International Journal of Robotics Research (IJRR) or deciding whether a robotics manuscript fits this venue. Encodes the journal's fit, the longer-form conceptually-framed-and-general contribution bar, depth-and-generality rigor, the IJRR-vs-T-RO routing, house style, official-submission re-check, and desk-reject heuristics.

When to use

• fit/framing check for IJRR manuscripts
• re-framing results into general methods or principles
• choosing between IJRR and IEEE Transactions on Robotics
• checking IJRR depth and generality bar
• applying desk-reject heuristics
• foundational methods in planning, control, estimation, learning, and perception
• manipulation, locomotion, and navigation with generalizable principles
• algorithmic and theoretical robotics with formal treatments

When not to use

• replacing the journal's current official author guidelines
• single working system or demo with no generalization
• incremental results better suited to other venues
