Use when positioning a Journal of Educational Psychology manuscript against the educational-psychology literature. JEP gives more room than a short-report journal (up to ~12,000 words), but the contribution must still be stated as a precise advance over the closest prior learning/instruction work, not a survey. Stakes the contribution; it does not write the literature review.
